Hey everyone! I disappeared for about a month to focus on my final set of undergrad exams and I haven’t been doing much of anything except eating, sleeping and studying. Last month was easily the most intense month of my academic career but in less than two months I’ll graduate and officially be the holder of a Law LLB (Hons) degree!! I am so happy and now I can finally relax. Even with such a hectic schedule, I managed to keep track of the products I kept reaching for all month and couldn’t get enough of.
Summer is right around the corner and I’m back in the Caribbean! This means that the amount of layers I’ll be wearing will decrease dramatically. For ladies (and gents – no discrimination here) who suffer from hyperpigmentation or ingrown hairs, this is a lifesaver. It gently exfoliates and removes the dead and top layers of skin using salicylic, lactic and glycolic acid which allows the ingrown hairs to lift above the skin line. Additionally, these acids allow the chromabright to target accumulated melanin which is responsible for hyperpigmentation. This can be used on the face, neck, legs, underarm and bikini area. I use this twice a day and there has definitely been results.
Every 20 seconds, a tub of The Righteous Butter is sold somewhere in the world. That’s how amazing it is! This product is everything I ever wanted and needed. My skin is normally extremely dry. I normally have to walk around with lotion in my bag just so I’m not ashy all day. The body butter is very thick and heavy so I would recommend using this product in the evening on damp skin after a shower. The Righteous Butter is made with shea butter and aloe vera that absorbs quickly and leaves your skin hydrated all night.
I never splurge on lip products, especially one that only moisturizes. Chapstick always seemed to get the job done until I tried Smith’s Rosebud Salve. This product is lighter than Vaseline’s petroleum jelly, but hydrated my cracked lips better than any product I’ve ever tried did. It can be used to soothe and heal minor skin irritations, alleviate minor burns and treat diaper rashes, but I never attempted to use it for those purposes. The Rosebud Salve appears to be tinted but applies transparent and does not leave the ‘film’ and sticky feeling on your lips. In my opinion, this product is better than EOS, Chapstick, Neutrogena, Vaseline, and any other product I have tried.
A setting spray + sunscreen = WIN! Warmer days can cause makeup to run, especially if your face turns into an oil slick like mine. This 3-in-1 spray acts as a setting spray, helps to reduce shine and skin oiliness, and a SPF 50 to help protect skin from harmful UV rays. I am currently battling with hyper pigmentation and any product that allows me to apply SPF on the go is a win in my books. Makeup doesn’t budge and gives my face a matte finish. For someone that got teased in high school about how oily my face would get (apparently I looked like I was frying chicken with all the grease on my face ?), I am thoroughly impressed.
After my birthday in April, I put myself on a MAJOR budget and was forced to spend less on skincare. During this time, I ran out of moisturizer and Boots had this on offer at 50% off. I apply this moisturizing in the morning and the evening and was extremely pleased. I normally hate moisturizers on top of my already oily skin because they normally sit on top of my face and don’t penetrate. This water gel moisturizer is absorbed in about two minutes and offers a partially matte finish.
That’s all for now guys. All of these products are products that I will definitely repurchase, but The Righteous Butter and Vanish PFB with Chromabright are definitely ‘holy grail’ products.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried or enjoy these products.
